Voyages a bordeaux et londres

Though they felt a bit like Kel Knight from Kath & Kim at a royal garden party, at least they had confidence with their newly tweaked wines and brands. Happily, the wines were very well received. Connoisseurs and buyers from all over the world were clamouring at the stand to taste the wine. Plunkett Fowles have already sent container-loads of our little drops of precious nectar bound for England.  By the end of the show the boys were standing proud (and humbled) to see that they were mixing it with the world’s best.

As many of you know by now, Sam Plunkett is studying his Master of Wine – the highest qualification available in the wine world.  Therefore it seemed only reasonable, following the London International Wine Fair, to spend a week in Bordeaux, France.

Bordeaux, the home of Cabernet Merlot, was an incredible place. The odd thing about it is how plain some of the landscapes are. Most of France looks fit for a postcard but the greatest Bordeaux vineyards are set along a fairly flat and pedestrian stretch of a tidal estuary. It requires you to look more closely to appreciate the care and attention they lavish on their vineyards – and on their chateaux.

Sam, Matt and David tried every wine available.  There were many lessons learnt which they will share with you over time, but perhaps the best lesson was just how hospitable the French were.  As a result of this trip, Plunkett Fowles is now offering private tours of our winery in the Strathbogie Ranges for Wine Club members and their families and friends.  Please join us and see what makes us so keen to share our wines.
