North American Adventure
We were part of a ‘Discover Australia’ program – a program where a dozen wineries from across Australia (predominantly from Victoria) travelled as a group to build awareness of Australian wine.
We tasted with, talked to and educated hundreds of Canadians and Americans including agents, sommeliers and journalists. I think the Canadians are amongst the most discerning wine consumers in the world, and I am pleased to say their collective preference is heading towards the cool-climate and more restrained wines from Australia (like those from the Strathbogie Ranges), rather than the ‘big-hitters’ from other parts of Australia. This certainly bodes well for our style of wines long term!
So, all-in-all it was a successful and fun trip. BUT the overwhelming highlight of my trip was this tasty little shirt I was able to pick up for Sam in my travels to Denver. (And because it was a gift I get to make him wear it! Yeee-haw!!)”
Cheers, Matt Fowles
